1. Scientist-B (Mechanical) – National Test House
No of Posts: 01 (UR)
Pay Scale: Level 10 (7th CPC) – approx ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500
Age Limit: 35 years (UR)
Headquarters: Kolkata (All India Service Liability)
Educational Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Physics from a recognized University/Institute; AND
- 1 year practical experience in testing/calibration of engineering materials/products or precision measurements/metrology in a recognized lab/institute.
- Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering; AND
- years practical experience in testing/calibration of engineering materials/products or precision measurements/metrology in a recognized lab/institute.
Desirable Qualification:
- Research & Development experience in testing of engineering materials and metrology/calibration of instruments and machines.
- Scientist-B is overall in-charge of Mechanical discipline – scrutinizing test requests, allocating samples, supervising technical/administrative problems, checking and signing test certificates, initiating purchase cases, and assisting Scientist 'C'.
2. Scientific Officer (Non-Destructive) – National Test House

Pay Scale: Level 8 (7th CPC) – approx ₹47,600 – ₹1,51,100
Age Limit: 33 years (OBC)
Headquarters: Kolkata (All India Service Liability)
Educational Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Physics OR Degree in Electrical Engineering OR Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Metallurgy; AND
- 1 year experience in Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory OR 1 year experience in X-Ray Diffraction or investigation work on failure of engineering material by Non-Destructive and metallographic methods.
- Testing and evaluation of laboratory samples, developing testing methods, performing day-to-day work of Scientist 'B' (Non-Destructive) in his/her absence, issuing samples to Scientific Assistant, and signing test certificates.
3. Superintending Archaeological Engineer – Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)
No of Posts: 02
Pay Scale: Level 11 (7th CPC) – approx ₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700
Age Limit: 40 years for UR | 50 years for PwBD
Headquarters: New Delhi (liability to serve anywhere in India)
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
Experience:
- 8 years of experience in Planning, Execution and Supervision of Civil Engineering works in Government Sector or at any Archaeological / Heritage Sites.
- Assisting Head of Engineering Branch, formulating plans and guidelines for conservation of ancient monuments and departmental buildings, scrutinizing and processing conservation proposals and new works, exercising control on execution of approved works, and preparing reports.
Age Relaxation Norms (Standard UPSC):
- SC/ST: 5 years (up to 15 years for PwBD-SC/ST)
- OBC: 3 years (up to 13 years for PwBD-OBC)
- PwBD (General): 10 years (max age 56 years on closing date)
- Ex-Servicemen: 5 years (with minimum 6 months service after attestation)
- Central Govt employees: Up to 5 years (with 3 years continuous service)
- Crucial date for age and qualification: 15 May 2026 (closing date)
