UPSC Recruitment 2026:
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released an advertisement for the recruitment of 127 Geologists and Scientists posts.
UPSC Vacancy Details:
Number-wise Vacancy:
- Geologist, Group A: 29
- Chemist, Group A: 7
- Assistant Geologist, Group B: 34
- Assistant Geophysicist, Group B: 35
- Assistant Chemist, Group B: 6
- Scientist ‘B’(Hydrogeology), Group ‘A’: 5
- Scientist ‘B’(Chemical ) Group ‘A’: 1
- Scientist ‘B’(Geophysics) Group ‘A’: 1
- Assistant Hydrogeologist, Group ‘B’: 7
- Assistant Chemist, Group ‘B’: 1
- Assistant Geophysicist, Group ‘B’: 1
Age Limit: You must be between 21 and 32 years as of January 1, 2027 (born between January 2, 1995, and January 1, 2006).
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years (15 years for SC/ST, 13 years for OBC)
- Ex-Servicemen: 5 years
- Government Servants: 5 years (for specified posts)
- Defence Personnel Disabled in Operations: 3 years
Educational Qualifications:
- For Geologist/Assistant Geologist/Scientist 'B' (Hydrogeology)/Assistant Hydrogeologist: Master's degree in Geological Science, Geology, Applied Geology, Geo-Exploration, Mineral Exploration, Engineering Geology, Marine Geology, Earth Science and Resource Management, Oceanography, Petroleum Geosciences, or Geochemistry.
- For Geophysicist/Assistant Geophysicist/Scientist 'B' (Geophysics): M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, or Integrated M.Sc. in Exploration Geophysics.
- For Chemist/Assistant Chemist/Scientist 'B' (Chemical): M.Sc. in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must meet the physical standards prescribed for the respective posts, with specific functional classifications and physical requirements for PwBD candidates.
