The State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Assam, has released a major recruitment notification for 1,715 vacancies of Constable (Unarmed Branch – UB) and Constable (Armed Branch – AB) in Assam Police. Online applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens who are permanent residents of Assam.

Pay Scale: Rs. 14,000 – 70,000 + Grade Pay Rs. 5,600 + other allowances as per rules.

Educational Qualification:

• Constable (UB): H.S./Class 12 passed from a recognised board.
• Constable (AB): HSLC/Class 10 passed from a recognised board.
• Higher qualified candidates can apply for both UB & AB (must indicate preference).
• Driver Constable and Driver: Candidates must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or Council. Additionally, they must possess a valid driving licence for LMV, MMV, or HMV as per the specific post requirements. For Fire & Emergency Services driver posts, an HMV driving licence is mandatory.

Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026):

• General: 18–25 years (born between 01-01-2001 and 01-01-2008)
  

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST(P)/ST(H): +5 years
• OBC/MOBC: +3 years
• Home Guards/VDP/Civil Defence (3+ years service): +3 years
• FMMO/SPOs: +10 years

Note:

1.  Govt. of Assam has enhanced one (01) year in the upper age limit i.e. from 26 (twenty six) years to 27 (twenty seven) years for Recruitment to the post of Sub Inspector (UB) in Assam Police and from 24 (twenty four) years to 25 (twenty five) years for Recruitment to the post of Sub Inspector (AB) in Assam Commando Battalions under the Unreserved Category in the current Recruitment Cycle. (As updated on 13th February 2026)

 

2. The age of the Applicants will be calculated on the basis of the Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card/HSLC Passed Certificate issued by a recognised Board/Council. No other document shall be accepted in lieu thereof for this purpose.

Physical Standards of Assam Police Constable 2026:

Height:

• Male (General/OBC/SC): 162.5 cm
• Male (ST(P)/ST(H)): 160 cm
• Female (General/OBC/SC): 154 cm
• Female (ST(P)/ST(H)): 152 cm

Chest (Only for Men):

• General/OBC/SC/ST(P): Min. 80 cm (expansion +5 cm)
• ST(H): Min. 78 cm (expansion +5 cm)

Medical Standards:

• Must be in good mental & physical health.
• Free from diseases like diabetes, heart issues, hernia, colour blindness, etc.
• Eye sight: 6/6 in one eye, not poorer than 6/9 in the other (without correction).

Other Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality: Applicant must be a Citizen of India and a permanent resident of Assam. Selected Applicants will have to submit Proof of Residence after publication of the Final Select List. However, Applicants belonging to SC, ST, OBC/MOBC are exempted from submitting such Certificates.

Local Language Proficiency: Candidates must speak Assamese or any other State language fluently.

Employment Exchange Registration: Candidates must register his/ her name with a local Employment Exchange in Assam. 

Selection Process (Stages):

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

• Race & Long Jump for all.
• Chin-up for AB Male candidates.
• Marks: 40 for UB & AB Female | 60 for AB Male

2. Medical Examination & PST

• After qualifying PET.

3. Written Test

• 100 MCQs (0.5 marks each, no negative marking).
• Subjects: Arithmetic, English, Reasoning, Assam GK, Current Affairs.
• Languages: Assamese/Bodo/Bengali/English.

4. Oral/Viva-Voce

• marks

5. Academic Weightage (UB only)

• 5 marks based on HS percentage.

2. Use one mobile number for all recruitments.
3. Fill in details exactly as per HSLC certificate.
4. Upload required documents (photo, signature, certificates).
5. Generate Acknowledgement Slip and keep it safe.

• HSLC/HS admit card & mark sheet

• Caste Certificate (if applicable, from Assam Govt. authority only)

• Sports/NCC certificates

All candidates for the 2025–2026 season must register a fresh and generate a new application ID. Application IDs from previous seasons will not be valid for the 2025–2026 season.
