The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) - February 2026 - on its official website (https://ctet.nic.in/).Last Date: 18/12/2025.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the 21st edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). Scheduled for February 8, 2026 (Sunday), the exam will be conducted across 132 cities in India. Aspiring teachers can now gear up to apply online and take a significant step toward their teaching careers.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure eligibility before applying. For detailed eligibility, refer to the official NCTE website.
For Classes I – V (Primary Stage):
For Classes VI – VIII (Elementary Stage):
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed. (final year appearing also eligible)
- Senior Secondary with 45% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed. (as per NCTE 2002 norms)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Special Education
- Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed. (must complete NCTE-recognized 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education within 2 years of appointment)
- Graduation with 2-year D.El.Ed. (final year appearing eligible)
- Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed.
- Graduation with 45% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (as per NCTE norms)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed
- Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)
- Candidates pursuing any NCTE-recognized teacher education course are also eligible to appear in CTET.
Exam Pattern & Papers:
CTET consists of two papers:
Paper Timings:
- Paper I: For teachers of Classes I to V (Primary Stage)
- Paper II: For teachers of Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage)
Paper Timings:
- Paper II (Morning): 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM
- Paper I (Evening): 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Application Fee:
- General/OBC: ₹1,000 (One Paper) / ₹1,200 (Both Papers)
- SC/ST/Differently Abled: ₹500 (One Paper) / ₹600 (Both Papers)
- GST will be extra as applicable.
Exam Cities:
The CTET will be held in 132 cities across India. Candidates can choose up to four city preferences during the application. CBSE reserves the right to allot a center other than the candidate’s choice.
How to Apply for CTET Exam 2026:
Interested and suitable candidates who have fulfilled the above-mentioned eligibility criteria may apply through the CTET Official website.
- Visit the official CTET website: https://ctet.nic.in
- Click on “Apply Online” and fill in the required details.
- Upload a recent photograph and signature in the specified format.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Download and save the Confirmation Page for future reference.
